“To listen is to place oneself in between.”
Jean-Luc Nancy
Ben Leven || In Between
Ben Le’ven is an immersive installation that draws on the form and symbolism of the sukkah as a temporary dwelling. Fabric, light, and sound create a space that is at once fragile and inviting, a structure that shelters without enclosing. Woven bands of color and conductive paint form a porous architecture that responds to touch and presence.
The installation functions as a space of hospitality. Conductive surfaces invite gentle interaction, activating sound through contact. As strings and electronics breathe across the textile, the work becomes a shared ritual of listening, where sound is intimate rather than distant and the audience is invited to dwell rather than observe.
Like the sukkah, Ben Le’ven embraces exposure as part of care. It offers a threshold where safety and openness coexist, and where music, light, and fabric remain in continuous conversation.
Visitors are invited to touch the black stripes of the fabric and listen.
When touched, the fabric activates an atmospheric music for strings and choir.
